Mushroom Stroganoff

 

Add white wine and herbs to your pasta in this Russian recipe called “Stroganoff.”  Stroganoff is a Russian word that means “a dish cooked in a cream sauce.”

Mushroom Stroganoff

 

1 tbsp. butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 large White onion

600 gms .fresh button mushroom (boiled and set aside mushroom stock)

1 tbs. plain all-purpose flour

1 cup white wine

1 ½ cup vegetable cream-based

½ tsp. ground nutmeg

500 gms. Linguine, cooked al dente

 

  1. Melt butter in a large pan over low-heat to avoid burning of butter. Saute garlic for 30 seconds and add onion and sauté for 2 minutes.
  2. Adjusting to medium-high heat, add mushroom and sauté for 3 minutes.
  3. Add white wine, mushroom stock, nutmeg and dissolved flour stirring frequently for 3-5minutes.
  4. Add salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste.
  5. Prepare pasta in al dente pasta by putting on a large pan or plate. Pour sauce on top.
  6. Garnish with nutmeg for more flavorful taste.
  7. Makes 5-6 servings.

Steam veggies like carrot, cauliflower of broccoli or baked vegetable gratin is perfect side dish to white pasta like ‘Mushroom Stroganoff.”
